CORVALLIS, Ore. \u2014 Thousands of law enforcement professionals throughout the state have more affordable access to learning opportunities online and in person thanks to a new collaboration between Oregon State University and the Oregon Association Chiefs of Police.<\/p>\n

The OACP represents 116 agencies statewide, from police departments and tribal police departments to sheriffs\u2019 offices and departments of public safety. Employees from OACP member agencies \u2014 some 6,500 law enforcement professionals \u2014 may now be eligible for tuition scholarships from Oregon State<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The scholarship can be applied toward any courses or programs that are delivered online by Oregon State Ecampus or in person in Corvallis and at OSU-Cascades in Bend. The tuition benefit is also available to spouses and dependents of eligible employees.<\/p>\n

\u201cProviding educational solutions that meet real-time workforce demands is at the core of our work,\u201d said Lisa L. Templeton, the vice provost of Oregon State\u2019s Division of Educational Ventures. \u201cWe\u2019re proud to team up with the OACP to give law enforcement professionals the ability to gain skills and advance their careers while continuing to serve our communities throughout Oregon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oregon State offers more than 100 degrees, certificates and microcredentials online<\/a> through Ecampus. An additional 200-plus programs are available on campus<\/a> in Corvallis and Bend.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Oregon Association Chiefs of Police<\/a> has a long history of enhancing professional standards through training and scholarship opportunities,\u201d said Kevin Campbell, the OACP executive director. \u201cThis collaboration with Oregon State will help our members acquire new knowledge that better enables them to meet the needs of the citizens we serve and advance professionally.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is the latest in a series of similar employer collaborations that OSU\u2019s Division of Educational Ventures has formed with organizations including Amazon, Guild, EdAssist by Bright Horizons, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and Samaritan Health Services.<\/p>\n
